Phillies Assign Johan Rojas to Clearwater Threshers

23-year-old Center Fielder Sent to Minor League Affiliate
The Philadelphia Phillies have assigned 23-year-old center fielder Johan Rojas to their Class A-Advanced affiliate, the Clearwater Threshers. Rojas, who made his MLB debut with the Phillies earlier this season, has been optioned to the minors to gain more playing time. The move is expected to give Rojas a chance to improve his hitting and fielding skills in a less competitive environment.
Rojas was drafted by the Phillies in the 22nd round of the 2021 MLB Draft. He has risen through the minors quickly, making his MLB debut in May 2023. In 35 games with the Phillies, Rojas has batted .222 with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs. He has also stolen 6 bases.
The Phillies are hoping that Rojas will continue to develop his skills in Clearwater and eventually return to the majors as a contributing player. The Threshers are currently in first place in the Florida State League's North Division.
